At the April 8th School Committee meeting, the Committee voted to approve the Superintendent’s proposed FY27 Operating Budget. Thank you to our staff and community members who took the time to attend and engage in this important process.
This milestone reflects months of thoughtful planning, careful prioritization, and difficult decisions made to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our students while remaining fiscally responsible.
As we have shared throughout this process, the development of this year’s budget has required us to navigate a number of financial challenges while maintaining our commitment to high-quality educational programming.
The next step is the presentation of the proposed budget to the Finance Committee at their Public Hearing on April 14th at 7:00 p.m. This is an important opportunity for continued review and community engagement.
The final step will take place at Town Meeting on May 4th at 7:00 p.m.
We encourage all members of the Douglas community to stay informed and take part in this important process as we work together to support our schools and our students.
