Douglas Public Schools would like to inform families of an important update regarding middle school student Chromebooks.
Beginning this summer, all current Grade 6 and Grade 7 students will take their assigned Chromebook and charger home for the summer and return with the same device on the first day of school in the fall. The district will no longer collect Grade 6 and Grade 7 student devices at the end of the school year.
Current Grade 8 student devices will still be collected on Friday June 12th 2026 so they can be prepared and redistributed to incoming Grade 6 students for next school year.
This new approach is designed to help students continue developing accountability and responsibility as they prepare for high school, where students already follow a similar year-round take-home model.
If a device becomes damaged over the summer, families may report the issue directly to the Technology Department and arrange to drop off the device for repair.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact parentportal@douglasps.net.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve and modernize our student technology programs.

Both students were recognized for their outstanding leadership, kindness, and hard work throughout the school year. We are so proud of the positive example they set each day at DMS. Congratulations, Jace and Hannah — this recognition is well deserved! 👏

Please take note of the tentative final dates for the DMS after-school enrichment program. Feel free to reach out to Kayla Avedian with any questions or concerns.

Good afternoon,
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Mr. Bishop. As many of you are aware, Mr. Bishop experienced a medical incident this past weekend. We are happy to share that he is doing well and remains in good spirits.
At this time, however, he will be unable to return for the remainder of the school year. During his absence, Mrs. Sullivan will serve as acting Principal with the support of Ms. Angela Muller-Crone.
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, we are looking forward to many exciting activities and events with our students and school community. We appreciate your continued support during this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school at 508-476-3332.
Thank you.
Just a friendly reminder regarding morning parent drop-off procedures. To help ensure a safe and efficient arrival process, we ask that parents form a single-file line when dropping students off. The line should proceed along the right side of Davis Street/Gleason Court, continue through the half-circle driveway near the Middle School main entrance where students may exit their vehicles, and then continue back onto Davis Street to exit toward Route 16.
For safety reasons, please do not attempt to pass other vehicles while in the half-circle driveway. We also ask that students not be dropped off along the right side of the street after the second half-circle entrance, as this creates unsafe conditions for both students and traffic flow.
If you are unable to wait in the drop-off line, you are welcome to let your child out anywhere along Davis Street/Gleason Court heading down toward the Middle School, provided it can be done safely alongside the sidewalk. In these situations, students should only exit the vehicle from the right side of the car.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation, patience, and support in helping us maintain a safe arrival process for all students and families.
Thank you!

This week, students took on a NASA-inspired challenge: designing and building lunar landers to safely protect their “marshmallow astronauts” during landing 🌕👩🚀👨🚀
Using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, they engineered shock-absorbing systems to handle the impact—testing, redesigning, and trying again like real engineers.
So much innovation (and a few bumpy landings!) along the way. Great work, everyone! 👏✨

Mental health is just as important as physical health—and it deserves our attention, care, and compassion every single day.
This month is a chance to:
• check in with yourself and others
• recognize the importance of rest and balance
• challenge stigma by having open, honest conversations
• remind people that asking for help is a sign of strength
Everyone’s journey looks different. Some days are easier than others, and that’s okay. What matters is continuing to show up, take small steps, and support one another along the way.
If you’re struggling, know that you don’t have to go through it alone. And if you’re in a place to help, your presence can make a difference.
Let’s use this month to listen more, judge less, and build a community where mental health is prioritized and supported. 💚

Students in High School Spanish 2H and 3H from Ms. Floria’s class put their creativity to work by writing original fairytales—in Spanish! 🏰🐉 They then brought their stories to life by visiting Douglas Middle School and reading them to Mrs. Reber’s students.
It was a special opportunity for our high schoolers to share their language skills and for middle school students to enjoy engaging, imaginative storytelling. A great example of collaboration, creativity, and community in action! 💙💛
